Each year the Hiawathaland Council conducts a Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign to raise unrestricted operating dollars to cover, in part, the annual expenses involved in the operations of our council. Friends of Scouting exists for those individuals, businesses, corporations, and trusts that desire to create and maintain a connection with the council through the giving of financial resources to Scouting. Most are parents of Scouts or Scout alumni. The unrestricted financial gifts are given with the understanding that the council will use these dollars as needed to ensure the continuation of a quality Scouting program for the youth of our area. The dollars raised through this Campaign allow us to: • Conduct activities and programs at a minimum cost. • Operate a Service Center to support our youth and leaders. • Operate and maintain Camp Hiawatha. • Provide a trained professional field staff who work with our Scout leaders. If you would like to learn more about this program or wish to have a Friends of Scouting Pledge Card mailed to you, contact the Hiawathaland Council Office. You may donate on line at The Finance Support Division and entering the council zip code 49855. Boy Scout Charity Golf Outing Hiawathaland Council Boy Scout Charity Golf Outing is scheduled every year in Marquette to help raise funds. Trails End Popcorn The Trails End Popcorn Sale is an important funding source for the Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops in the council as well as helping the council to provide programs, camps, and services to the units. Gifts-In-Kind An important part of our financial program is the donation of needed goods or services to the Council. See Property Needs for more information. Planned Gifts Major gifts such as bequests, unitrusts, or gift annuities can ensure the financial viability of Boy Scouting in the Upper Peninsula in the future.
