Josh Hanson, a Webelos Scout from Pack 510 in Iron Mountain, sold $4,000 of popcorn. Wonder how much popcorn that is? The photo shows Josh with his sales.
Tony Edlebeck, Menominee Iron Range District Chairman, said, "Josh and many other Scouts took full advantage of the new program this year, to use popcorn sale profits to fund their planned trip to the 2010 National Jamboree. Scouting is a lot about setting goals and working hard to achieve them. It's very encouraging to see these young men working hard to earn their way to such events as Boy Scout Camp, Philmont High Adventure Boy Scout Ranch and the National Jamborees."
Scout Executive Dewey Jones reported that the 2007 sale set a record with an of 12 percent to $321,160. The 76 Packs, Troops, and Crews that participated in the sale earned $119,587 to support their unit's program as well as $4,655 in prizes. The sale also provides nearly one fourth of the funds, about $110,000, for the council's programs, services, and facilities.
