The Hiawathaland Council offers a trek to Philmont each year. See how a trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch changes lives. Participating Scouts may sell popcorn and receive 50% profit from sales.

Any Boy Scout or Venturer who will complete the eighth grade before participating, or will be at least 14 years of age by January 1, 2012; meets physical requirements; and is recommended by his/her Scoutmaster or Advisor. Participation by female Venture members is dependant on female advisors attending.

The Council trek will consist of 2 crews of 24 members each.

The cost is budgeted at $1450.00.

$150.00 deposit with reservation by May 1, 2011
$400.00 total paid by September 15, 2011
$1,000.00 total paid by January 1, 2012
$1,450 total paid by April 1, 2012

The trek fee includes all transportation, meals, patrol and troop equipment, insurance and the training weekend before the trek. Additional expenses will be your personal equipment, uniforms and spending money. Fees may be lowered based on cost transportation and other travel expenses.

If you sign up for the trek and then find that you cannot attend, you will receive a full refund from the Hiawathaland Council only if there is an alternate to take your place. If there is not an alternate, a partial refund will be made. This includes fees you have paid to date, less any expenses related to contractual agreements made on your behalf.
