Ask any new Cub Scout why he wanted to join Scouting and 9 times out of 10, his answer will be "to go camping". We introduce the Cub Scouts to the outdoors through den and pack activities and the rank requirements in their books. We encourage them to attend district day and council resident camping in the summer.

But how do the leaders in the pack obtain the skills to teach the proper methods and safety procedures for hikes, pack campouts, and conservation?

By attending BALOO of course!

BALOO has been developed to help leaders gain skills and confidence in the outdoors so they can insure that Cub Scouts can experience a FUN and memorable outdoor event.

Fun hands on instruction include:
• cooking
• safety with stoves, lanterns and fire
• knots
• knife instruction
• first aid and sanitation
• nature games and hikes
• equipment selection for the pack
• program planning for pack campouts
• leadership requirements for pack campouts
